Why This Matters for Your Practice
Gender-inclusive language is more than a feel-good exercise: it's clinical best practice. Your patients deserve to feel seen and respected, and the data shows that when they do, trust increases, communication improves, and outcomes get better. This course shows you exactly why this matters and how it directly impacts your patient relationships.
A Practical Three-Step System
In this module, you'll learn a straightforward, neuroscience-backed three-step process to rewire your brain so gender-inclusive language becomes your default—not something you have to think about. This isn't about perfection; it's about progress and intentionality.
Repair with Confidence
Mistakes happen. What matters is how you respond. Learn proven strategies for effective repair that strengthen relationships with your patients, model humility, and demonstrate your genuine commitment to their care.
About the Course
If you're a licensed medical provider in Oregon, you know that continuing education in the cultural competency field is required for your license. But here's the truth: knowing you should use gender-inclusive language and actually doing it consistently are two different things. This course bridges that gap. Over the next few hours, you'll move from understanding *why* gender-inclusive language matters to *how* you'll use it every day with your patients and colleagues. You'll learn a proven three-step retraining process that rewires your communication habits at a deeper level. And because we're all human, you'll also master the art of repair—so when you slip up (and you will!), you'll know exactly how to respond in a way that deepens trust rather than damages it. Best of all? You'll earn your required Oregon continuing education credits while actually transforming how you show up for your transgender and nonbinary patients. This isn't a box-checking exercise—it's an investment in becoming a better provider. **Ready to make your practice more inclusive?** Enroll today and start making a real difference.
About Your Instructor, Trystan Reese
As a transgender educator, author, and consultant with more than twenty years of experience in education across healthcare, corporate, and nonprofit sectors, I know how important continuing education is. Beyond passively reading books about theory, I create engaging, interactive learning experiences that blend neuroscience, evidence-based frameworks, and practical application so learners like you can shift from awareness to confident, compassionate practice. Before founding Collaborate Consulting, I was the founding Director of Family Formation at Family Equality, where I built an online ecosystem of training resources focused on LGBTQ+ family-building. My work at Family Equality and beyond has reached thousands of clinicians and reproductive health professionals through collaborations with OHSU, Boston IVF, IVI-RMA, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. I'm also the author of a memoir on my family's unique journey, How We Do Family, and I have had the incredible privilege of sharing my story with CNN, NPR, and PBS. I hope you find this module compelling, accessible, and immediately relevent to your everyday work supporting patients and colleagues across the gender spectrum.
