What You'll Learn

A land acknowledgment can be a spoken statement, a written statement, and/or a moment of grounding and centering, all designed to honor the land and bring the First Peoples who stewarded it into your awareness. This session is dedicated to teaching you more about re-indigenizing your workplace.

  • Doing land acknowledgments respectfully

  • Working with tribal nations appropriately

  • Reaching out to tribal leaders effectively

  • Taking meaningful action on a daily, annual, and life-long basis to support indigenous people, communities, and cultures

Real Feedback From Learners

This entire training is insightful and impactful!

The entire training was insightful and impactful! Probably the most applicable or prioritized were the considerations for acknowledgments and the cultural protocols for connecting to native peoples—for both meaningful and respectful acknowledgements and exploring connection to local tribes beyond the land acknowledgement as a "formality."

Inspired and Grateful!

I'm really grateful for Lukas laying out the reasons why land acknowledgments are important. This will be helpful for me as I incorporate them into our radio programming day - and I intend to take my time and be intentional. As a guest on Tlingit Aani, I feel deeply privileged to be in relationship with Indigenous friends and organizations. I'm inspired to investigate aspects of my experience as to recognize how I perpetuate white supremacy (especially with respect to time/urgency, offerings, generosity.)

Deep Appreciation

I did not know that there were specific ways to approach the community and I was grateful to learn that. I also appreciated the "Indian time" explanation to expand me into understanding that there is more than one way to exist and operate, so not to judge or put pressure on others who may have a different view on things like time.
